Claire and David’s wedding was small in every sense except for what it held.

Surrounded by their closest family at The Sea Ranch Lodge, the day felt deeply personal, full of the kind of quiet meaning that stays with you.

One of the most moving moments came when Claire surprised David with a traditional Tongan dance, a Tauʻolunga, which she had spent countless hours learning in secret. Knowing how meaningful it was to David and his family, she performed it as a deeply personal way of honoring him, his family, and his Tongan heritage. Watching David slowly realize what was happening was unforgettable. The disbelief, the emotion, the look on his face when it finally sank in was priceless.

There was another presence felt throughout the day, too. Claire’s mother had passed away and could not be there to witness her daughter get married. But she was not absent. She was remembered, honored, and woven into the celebration in ways that made her presence feel very close.

This is what stays with me most about weddings like this.
