Claire and David gave me the time, space, and a wh Claire and David gave me the time, space, and a whole lot of trust to create. Their love for each other feels like something out of a storybook, and it was an honor and a privilege to witness and document this day for them. Shot on a mix of film and digital, I did my best to use specific film cameras as intentionally as possible, choosing each one based on how I wanted to tell a particular part of their story. Being able to slow down, compose, and really be present in the process made it such a joy to create, even if that meant carrying five or six cameras on my body at once… (many of us know this feeling haha). A special thank you to @zack_schomp_weddings for always being down to create and capture memories with me. Nina and Ryan’s wedding on Mackinac Island has sta Nina and Ryan’s wedding on Mackinac Island has stayed with me. There was so much thought behind the way they approached this weekend. Nina’s wardrobe honored the women who raised her, transforming family saris into something new while preserving the stories and memories woven into them. The food, traditions, music, and smaller details all felt connected to who they are. And Ryan, the way he embraced Nina’s world, her family, and the meaning behind these moments, said so much about the kind of person he is. It was a beautiful thing to witness two people who care deeply about where they come from and the life they’re building together. Honored to have documented this incredible celebration. I think there’s often a misunderstanding about the intention behind being a wedding photographer and what truly motivates many of us to do this work. This may not resonate with everyone, but I know a lot of people in my industry will understand exactly what I mean…
When Alice first reached out, she told me that she When Alice first reached out, she told me that she didn’t want to influence what I photographed or how I approached the day. Her only request was that I be myself. That level of trust was incredibly inspiring. It gave me the space to slow down, observe differently, and follow my instincts without expectation or limitation. Those are the environments where I feel most connected to my work, where I can focus on the quiet, candid moments and create imagery that feels honest, artful, and deeply personal. T&R spent their entire wedding day in complete dis T&R spent their entire wedding day in complete disbelief that they were finally sharing vows and committing a lifetime to each other. You could see it in the way they held and looked at each other. You could hear it in the words they exchanged. This day was about two fully present people, trying to take in a moment that felt almost too beautiful to be real. Some moments are joyful. Some are emotional. And then there are moments like these… where love feels so honest and vulnerable it leaves everyone who witnesses it in a sense of wonder.
